NYC

Well, I thought it was starting to be fall, but now I'm not so sure. The weather has been in the 90s again, and the humidity has returned also. No fun at all. Our AC went out this week for the second time this summer. Thankfully, it's up and running again as of yesterday. I don't think I could have lasted much longer. Our house was starting to feel like a sauna, and I was starting to melt.

Even if the weather isn't cooperating with my fall plans, I'm still planning none-the-less. Lee and I have been working and saving for a belated vacation/3rd anniversary trip for the past few months. We haven't really been anywhere (besides home to WA to see my family) the whole 3 years we've been married, so we are very much looking forward to this getaway together. We are going to NYC! A whole 6 days with my love. We have both been there separately but never together, so this will be a good memory maker. NYC has a special place in both of our hearts. Maybe it's because I've always loved fashion and wanted to live there (we still do), or because they have such amazing food (we're both foodies), or the endless amounts of shopping (dangerous, I know). Whatever the case, we have been making some serious eating/shopping schedules for our stay.

We love watching cooking and traveling shows together. We started a little tabs system on the computer when we first got married. Every time we saw an interesting restaurant, we'd look it up, and tab it in the coordinating city. As soon as we decided to go to the Big Apple, we pulled up our NYC tab and had quite the selection of amazing places to try. Of course, we'll leave room for spontaneity, but part of the fun is the anticipation (at least for this planner).

Well, hope you enjoy your long weekend. I'm looking forward to some relaxation and extra time with my man.

What I Wore Wednesday

Welcome to What I Wore Wednesday {Week 25: Vintage}

Hi friends,

I hope you are well this Wednesday. I can't believe we're already halfway through the week. Time sure does fly by these days. Lee gets back from NYC late tonight, and Wally and I are looking forward to having him home. It's lonely around here with out him, but at least I have a little puppy to keep me company. He's pretty good at cuddling with me on the couch at night, just not as good as my husband. Wally is growing like a weed, and oh so much fun. He weighed 7.5lbs last time we were at the vet, and that was two weeks ago. I can't believe how fast he's growing up. We are working on leash training him. We've started a new nightly routine: walks around the block. He loves getting the exercise and exploring the neighboring yards. He's such a quality timer.  just like me. He wants to be in the same room we're in, sitting and playing right next to us. It's waaay cute. I'll post some photos of him soon.

Lee and I are working on some really exciting things for our business that we can't wait to share with you (hopefully soon). Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you next week!

The Gates

We watched a cool documentary the other night. It was about an art project that took 26 years of planning and configuring before it came to actuality. Christos and Jeanne-Claude, husband and wife artists, developed the concept for this in 1979. It wasn't complete until February 2005, where it remained on display through Central Park, NY for 2 weeks. It was called The Gates Project.

Christos and Jeanne-Claude had a vision to cover 23 miles of walkway in Central Park with saffron colored gates and banners, coloring the winter grounds with a golden river.

The sketches are absolutely beautiful. It's such a very unique idea, actually quite stunning. I wish I could have walked through the park and seen the saffron fabric floating in the air. The first six photos are sketches of the project, and the last four are actual photos.

Beautiful, right? Have you heard of this before?  I'd love to hear your thoughts. You can find the documentary on Netflix.

Cheers,
Bonte

What I Wore Wednesday

Hi guys, welcome to What I Wore Wednesday {Week 24: Oversized and Baggy}

I love this oversized menswear dress I picked up at a thrift store a few months back. Sometimes it just feels nice to get lost in an oversized shirt. It pairs great with boots and a scarf for a casual afternoon outing. I am really ready for fall. Like really really! I keep forcing it with my wardrobe, as if that will make it come any sooner, and end up being hot by mid afternoon. I know it's on the way, I'm just anxiously awaiting the cooler temps and warm colors.

Friday, it's you again!

Hi friends, we had a lovely anniversary day/evening, despite the few hiccups that are bound to happen every once in a while. Lee had planned to take me to our favorite restaurant last night. We called to make a reservation Wednesday, and they said they were booked, much to our disappointment. We decided that we could have just a good of time celebrating on Friday night, so we made the reservation for then. Well, yesterday, they called and said they worked us in! Three cheers for that! I rushed home from getting my hair done, threw on a dress and jewelry, touched up my makeup, and kissed my husband thank you for the 2 dozen red roses he had sitting on the table for me, and zipped out the door. I guess the part where my husband said that he left his keys in the car earlier that day didn't register with me. A locked car I might add. I had left my everyday purse sitting on the bed, and traded it for a much smaller clutch, perfect for an evening out. My set of keys was not in that clutch. We shut the door and walk towards the car. Then it hits us. We are locked out of our car. We are also locked out of our house! Both of which we've never done the whole 3 years we've been married! Why now, of all times???

While we could have gotten all bent out of shape and mad at each other (we started to for a minute), we stopped and realized that sometimes whatever can go wrong, does go wrong, and at the worst possible time. BUT, we weren't gonna let that spoil our anniversary night. We were gonna get to that reservation if it was the last thing we did. While my husband contemplated breaking a house window, I reminded him that our apartment managers probably wouldn't appreciate that since they just replaced ALL the windows in the 100 year old house we call home. Our spare key turned into one of our brother's house keys and was never replaced. What were we to do?! We had one cell phone that was very low on battery. Lee decided to call a cab. I thought it was a crazy idea, but it turned out to be the perfect solution to our problem. Seven dollars and 10 minutes later, we were at the restaurant, sitting at our table, getting ready to order. We were/are also so lucky that Lee has such a wonderfully nice Mother, who drove 30 minutes to and a from our house to drop off her key, so we could get in after we got back from dinner. The night turned out great. We got back from dinner, popped in our wedding video, and got to relive the best day of our lives. We weren't even a third into the video and we were both crying like babies.

thanks waiter, for the very blurry picture.
waiting for our cab.

Anyways, I'm sure we'll look back on this night and laugh. I already think it's humorous. But on a lighter note, I feel blessed and loved to have what I have.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend,
Bonte

It's been 3 years...3 years since I married him! 3 years of waking up next to my best friend. 3 years of sharing life, love, failures, and triumphs. I literally cannot remember my life without him. He's my constant joy and encouragement. He believes in me, challenges me, and loves me well. I don't know what I did to deserve him in my life. Lee Andrew Watson, I'm so glad you're mine, so glad you chose me, so glad we get to spend forever together.

Here's to the rest of our lives!

What I Wore Wednesday!

Welcome to What I Wore Wednesday {Week 23: Bold + Bright}

Hi guys, sorry for my brief absence over the weekend. I had 2 of my 7 siblings in town all weekend, my brother-in-law, and 2 nephews. We were having way to much fun for me to blog. That's my excuse:) But do not worry, I'm back!

This week is looking up. I have lots of Etsy orders to keep me busy (hooray!), and then I'm getting my much needed hair done on Thursday just in time for our date night out. Lee is taking me to our favorite restaurant to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary! I seriously can't believe it's already been 3 years. It's been an amazing journey so far, and I'm thrilled to spend the rest of my life with my darling husband. He is really the best guy I know, and I love him to the moon and back. I think we are going to pull out our wedding video and watch it sometime this week. It's been too long. . .
