i hate goodbyes

Oh, I hate goodbyes.
I had to bid farewell to my Mom and sister, Rachel this morning, and I've been sad all day.
You'd think they would be easier by now, and they are to some extent,
but mostly they are painful.
I guess that's what happens when you love your family so much! It hurts to let them go.
.........
I'm sure I'll be back into my routine by tomorrow, but all I want to do today is curl up with my
husband and wait for my heart to feel better.

On a lighter note, here are some photos of our fun filled weekend!
I was spoiled rotten by my sweet fam. We went out to lunch everyday, spent a day in Asheville at the Biltmore house, cooked dinner together, went on walks, and of course, talked, talked, talked...

They are so beautiful and I love them!
Hope your Monday is a little brighter than mine,

Week+End Recap

Our week+weekend recap:

High: iPhone 4S, you have changed my life already. I feel like I've finally joined the 21st century in technology and I love it. And Instagram too! We're good friends already.

Low: That first picture. We woke up bright and early on Thursday morning to find that in front of our house. Some guy fell asleep just before 7 am, and smashed into our car parked in front of our house. We had to say bye bye to it. Sad day...but hoping for something better/newer in it's place.

High: Upon cleaning out my glovebox, I found over $100 of unused gift cards left over from our wedding. That kind of stuff never happens to me so I was one happy lady.

High: My new Staub (pronounced like strobe, but without the r) dutch oven came! It was the week for getting mail, that's for sure. I made some delicious Indian soup in it...I think I'm gonna want to make soup all the time now.

High: We got an awesome cookbook from my fellow foodie sister Allison for Christmas. It's called Clinton St. Baking Company, which is a famous brunch restaurant in Manhattan's trendy Lower East Side. We've tried a few recipes the past 2 weekends, and they've been delicious. This Saturday it was banana chocolate chip pancakes...and they were yummy! Can't wait to try the biscuits next...

High: I finally perfected a homemade pizza dough. We've been playing around with various ones since we got married, and now we have one we love. I also gave my first go at making artisan bread, baked on our pizza stone. It was a success, but I think I still have some tweaking to do...I wasn't completely happy.

Here are a few photos to wrap it up...I'm off to start taxes...wish me luck!
watching Midnight in Paris...again. We love that movie...
and now I just want to go to Paris, especially today, since it's raining.

O Audrey

Lady Inspiration: Audrey Hepburn

She is by far one of my favorites.
Style.
Hair.
Brows.
Movies.
I mean she was even a ballerina.
She's just plain adorable.

I have a soft spot for her movies...

There are still a few less common films I've yet to see, but hopefully soon!
Did you know she used to style some of her movies? I think that is pretty awesome.

iPhones finally!

Exciting news!!!
Guess who's getting me an iPhone 4S???
My dear sweet husband.
Yes I know, we are so far behind everyone and probably the last people to be getting these,
but I can't help but be excited.

I found a really cool site, Society 6, with hundreds + hundreds + hundreds of iPhone cases.
Here are a few that I liked...
No. 1

No. 2

No. 3

No. 4

No. 5

No. 6

No. 7

No. 8

No. 9

No.10

I think I've decided on No. 4, but I really like all of these.
My phone will be here Wednesday...
Here's to looking forward to exciting packages in the mail.
That is one of my favorite things!!!

what really matters?

Our greatest fear as individuals should not
be of failure,
but of succeeding at things in life
that don't really matter
-Tim Kizziar

I find myself asking that question every so often.

What really matters in life?

Status, how much money I earn, what great things I accomplish?
Fancy clothes, new cars, lots of friends?
Good looks, college degrees, popularity?

I'm not saying I don't like those things, or even wish for them.
I'm not saying they don't matter.

All I'm saying is I know I forget about the important things in life
and I need to be reminded of what truly matters and lasts.

When I get to the end of my life, what will people say of me?
What difference will I have made in the small time I existed on this earth?
Whatever it is, however big or small, great or ordinary, I want
it to matter and mean something. I want it to last.

Just some thoughts rolling around in my head this Friday morning.
This was one of those weeks, that, well, I wanted to be over since it started.
So much change happening...trying to embrace it with a positive attitude.
I am very excited for this new year and the new things that it holds,
I'm just getting used to all the newness.

Hope you really do enjoy your weekend.
I have finished 3 books so far this year (high fives for me)! Maybe I am on my
way to being a reader again.
But now, I am in need of a new good book.
Please feel free to share suggestions.
